Katie Maas

Katie Maas
Missionary Discipleship Coordinator

Katie’s personal faith journey began in Winfield, Kansas, where she taught at Holy Name Catholic School. She enjoyed learning about the faith and sharing it with the students. “They actually knew quite a bit more than I did, so it was a challenge to stay one step ahead of them!” Katie shares. Through her interactions with them and those in her community, she grew to love the faith.

Katie’s experience widened as she moved to Derby and taught at St. Mary’s Parish Catholic School. There she assisted youth group, helped with the pro-life movement and visited the homebound.  She often felt that God was drawing her to a different mission.  She was offered an opportunity to discern with the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Colwich. “They are a holy group of women and bring the Lord’s love in all they do!”

Katie discerned out of the community after fifteen months. She moved to Shawnee and lives near her sister, brother in law and nephew, James. She enjoys Theology, creating with oil pastels and walking trails, especially ones with flowers!

“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”    Ephesians 4:16
