Baptism

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

Matthew 28:19

Baptism unites us with Christ. Through the sacrament of Baptism, Christians are freed from Original Sin and all sins. Once baptized, Christians become members of Christ’s Church—children of God, and they are given the gift of salvation. After Baptism, Christians can start preparing to receive the other sacraments and begin their path to discipleship.

As cleansing water is poured over each recipient (catechumen) during the Baptismal ceremony, the Holy Trinity is revealed. Baptism in the Catholic Church represents a new life in Christ.

If you have not attended a Baptismal Class in the last five years (or if this is your first child), Sacred Heart requires attendance at a 2 hour baptismal prep class session.
